Remember when a dessert was meant for after dinner? Then all of a sudden, everything changed, and people were eating doughnuts for breakfast, lunch, in between breakfast and lunch even! What happened? Krispy Kreme came to town. I remember when I first saw a Krispy Kreme opening up near me, it was like seeing a celebrity. That big neon sign spreading joy amongst the crowd, people were stopping, "look, look what it is" they were saying. London was finally worthy of a big doughnut chain.
Months past, people queued and doughnuts were the peoples choice. Then, craziness broke out. Without warning I could buy doughnuts at train stations, petrol stations even, and my local pirate DVD seller had a wide selection to choose from. People were now pirating Krispy Kreme's! Something had to be done. The Krispy Kreme craze had to slow down, before I had a stall inside my kitchen selling me Krispies. Thankfully, the people slowed down. A box of 12 (TWELVE!) doughnuts, subsided into "2 of my favourites...and one of those cause it looks good". The DVD guy went back to selling DVD's and the best Krispy Kreme stores were left standing.
I'm surprised this wasn't a major media headline.
