The name immediately makes this place cool. The Movieum is a day out for all film enthusiasts who want to see how some of the world's most famous films (and some...less famous) were created. It celebrates some of the best work from Great British "behind the scenes" workers ever to work on film, and includes world class works from special effect and make-up artist, as well as costume and set designers from around the world. The name Nick Dudman might not be instantly recognisable to most, but when you hear that he has worked on films like Batman, Labyrinth, Superman II, The Fifth Element and even had a major role in the creation of Yoda in Star Wars The Empire Strikes Back, that name becomes a bit more interesting. And you'll definitely want to see his exclusive interviews talking about his life and past jobs, as well as props and costumes from some of those films.
If watching how some of the greatest films ever made were...made, isn't quite your thing (weirdo) and you're more the kind of person who wants to get their hands dirty, there's a few things you can do. You could create your own 30 second film trailer in the Movieum's green screen, or you could pop over to the animatronics bit, and take control of T-Rex's head! Just don't make your own sound effect's too real because...kid's cry.
If you love film like us, and have possibly ever thought "wow...how do they do this" the Movieum is a must-must. Check out their website for more info on what they have there, and there is much more info (we're lazy!) and to book tickets. NUS card friendly btw.
