Since opening in 2000 the Tate Modern has become an iconic figure on London's southbank, with that big old chimney soaring high into the sky. The Tate Modern is home to some of the best "free-to-see" art your likely to find in this big old town we call London. Artists such as Louise Bourgeois, Salvador Dali and Warhol have had exhibitions here. Some however you do have to pay for. But every now and again you'll pop in and find some amazing pieces of creativity all for completely nothing.
The Tate Modern is the home to modern (1900+) and contemporary art. Although that can conjure up crazy images of "out there" artists who fly through the air dropping paint bombs onto a canvas from a tire swing to symbolise the lives of monkeys, we can assure you that it simply means art made with the last 100 years. Although we can't assure you that artists within that time haven't done something crazy things. You will find art simply put together with a paint brush, some paint and a canvas and you will find flashing lights in a corner. But you should expect that at the Tate Modern. The Tate Modern is home to some of the best ideas to come out of the art world, and act as an inspiration to anyone who even has the slightest of artistic interests.
