It took me about a good year of practice just to make 2 sounds come out of my mouth at once, after years of everyone I know telling me to learn how shut up the one I had already mastered. But these guys...these guys can make a symphony of sound come out of their voice boxes at once, and in the Beatboxing Convention not only will you get to see them fight it out for grand master recognition, but you will be able to pick up a thing or two about doing some beatboxing yourself.
The day will be split into two parts. In the first half of the day anyone can come and join in, see the artists at work and do a few workshops (if they can fit them in this year...some talk of less space and might not be able to...but lets hope for the best) for absolutely nothing, but in the second part, when the real battles take place, you will have to pay £8 for the privilage to watch.
You do get what you are paying for however. They have flown internationally recognised beatbox artists from all over the world, such as Adam Matta (display pic) and Oren Marshall. They also have an all female group called "The Boxetts" and will have a complete beatboxing orchestra to complete the night with. If you're not familiar with those names now...trust me, you won't be able to forget after seeing this vocal based wizardry.
This years "Boxcon" (the official name) will take place at the Southbank Centre and starts at around 4pm. The £8 charge comes in to effect after 8ish, so be prepared for it.
